Three Noob Questions

1) Anyone have any tips for taking out choppers with a rocket? I've spent a couple weeks in the game as an engineer and have yet to hit one. Tried the lock-on rocket and the chopper just sends out flares. Tried the RPG and it's nearly impossible to aim properly.

2) As you rank up do players typically stay on the objective more in Rush? Right now, most players on my team treat the game like team deathmatch and just run around aimlessly doing absolutely nothing for the objective. Ruins the game.

3) I play on Xbox. Why can't I return to the multiplayer menu screen in between matches? Is this a bug?

1) Use your Stinger Missles. Send one after another if they are flaring. If you are playing with others that are working as a team coordinate the attack. The best way though is to use a SOFLAM, along with a JAV, but this of course takes two people working together, which is hard to come by unless you luck out into a match where a person is actually on the mic and wants to work together. Or you have a squad you are playing with.
2) This is one thing that about the game that sucks. If you are playing a match of Rush and your team is more concerned about kills rather than attacking/defending you are screwed. As far as your question ... no it does not change, it all depends on the team you are playing with.
3) No it is not a bug, just how they set the game up (why I have no idea). I wish they at least gave you the option of adjusting your classes between matches.

Yea the menus in the game are ridiculous. Awesome overall though. So far I like it better than MWF3, especially if you get into a competitive game of Rush.

Unfortunately, pilots have the advantage vs SAM infantry. They get a special tone in the cockpit when a missile has been fired, so they know exactly when to drop their flares. Against any decent pilot with flares, your first missile will always be a waste, and you wont know until after you waste it. But I think you have a quicker reload time than their flares, so you should be able to hit them with the second shot.

And I believe it takes multiple hits (at least two, last I saw) to take an aircraft down, so don't be surprised if you use all your missiles on one aircraft, and then have to run around the map like a headless chicken trying to get re-supplied.

Being a low rank, I can't speak from experience, but I really have my doubts. Unfortunately, there will always be people who simply want to "blow shit up" in a shooters, and care none for objectives, or teammates, or anything other than mindlessly shooting stuff. Call of Duty takes care of many of these people, but there's always a handful that leak into team-based games.

As far as it being better than MW3, I am not too sure about that. One thing that I have noticed with the two is this. MW3 you can have a total shitty team but still pull off a win if you have one or two good players on your team. It is not going to happen on BF3 .... at least on the conquest/rush modes.

Perhaps I was a bit generous in my assessment.

I just played a round dominated by a total chopper whore. After getting furious that my team (with plenty of engineers) was apparently doing nothing about this guy, I remembered that if you want something done, you have to do it yourself. So I grabbed the engineer kit for the first time in a while. After wasting every single missile to flares, I realized why he was being allowed to Dominate the round.

At a 0% success rate, the IGLA was useless. Maybe it was an anomaly, and this guy's chopper-whoring-102-kills were down to luck, but I have my doubts.

I am not sure what it is but I have shot people through the skull at less than 50 meters multiple times. Body flinch, blood fly, and have them jump up after 5 or so rounds hitting them, turn while running/hip firing and kill me with one hit with a pistol/assault rifle/LMG/etc, and kill me dead. I mean REALLY?? As far as the chopper flaring, could of had two guys working well together in it, using their flares at different times giving them the time to re-arm them. What is really annoying is when there is a chopper or tank that is dominating an area and not a single person will do a damn thing about it. I was sniping trying to unlock two medals and had a team doing just that. I finally got tired of it and ended it. That is what eats at me sometimes while playing with a team of randoms. If you have a shit team you have no chance at all at winning a match and chances are you are going to go negative if you try to cap yourself. As with the COD games at least you can get your kills and have a chance to win if you are on fire.

The teams I play on are ridiculous. I never even know what they are trying to accomplish most of the time. We'll supposed to be attacking an M-COM and they will sitting in a room sniping people clear across the map. Or someone will be taking our M-COM and they will just sit in a vehicle nowhere near the station. It's really annoying. Can't tell you how many times I've rushed an M-COM or tried to defend one and been the only one there. Gets old when you are killed over and over trying to stay on the objective. Wish the teams got changed up more in between rounds.

Ok, so what you need to do is this: Not all chopper pilots are pros and therefore havent learned their flares very well. When you lock on to a chopper DONT shoot. let it just stay locked on for a few seconds and see if they shoot their flares first. It goes like this:
1. Acquire lock on.
2.WAIT
3.Let them pop their flares.
4. As soon as the flares are a little bit out of the way,(or if their low enough, when the flares touch the ground)
5. Then shoot your rocket.

Although this tactic has been used many times before and people are starting to cacth on now. But some people still havent or are new etc...
