Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand release information

Karkand is such a classic map. I'm glad to see it's return in BF3! Woorah!!!

According to DICE Back to Karkand is due to arrive for download sometime in December. Of course as many fans already know it will feature four iconic Battlefield maps including Strike at Karkand, Sharqi Peninsula, Gulf of Oman, and Wake Island. We can now reveal that Back to Karkand will also feature three classic vehicles; the Desert Patrol Vehicle, the BTR-90 and the F-35B STOVL Jet. Back to Karkand will also feature 10 classic Battlefield weapons; the FAMAS, the HK53, the PP19, the QBZ95B, the L85A2, the QBB95, the MG36, the JACKHAMMER, the TYPE88 and finally the L96.

Battlefield fans will also get five Back to Karkand Dog Tags along with five additional Trophies or Achievements and a brand new persistence reward system for completing specific "assignments". Details of the rewards have yet to be released but hopefully will include additional customization options.

Due in December Back to Karkand will be available to download free to all users who pre-ordered Battlefield 3. For anyone that didn't get a chance to pre-order Back to Karkand will be available to download as an expansion for $15. Hopefully with all the included extras the expansion will be worth both the wait and the price tag!

Fourth vehicle.......mine sweeper

Will it be similar to battlefield vietnam in the way that it was a completely different game with different guns, vehicles, and maps? Or will it be an expansion like the V.I.P. map pack but with more guns, vehicles, and maps?

I can't wait...I was starting to get a little bored with some of the maps.

The vehicles are map specific (only for Karkand pack) but guns you unlock in the Karkand pack can be used on any map. Also, obviously you have to have the pack to play on servers with Karkand pack maps in the rotation.

Awesome. Got the Limited Edition that came with Karkand. Can't wait to check out the new maps.
